What's (no longer) New ARCHIVE

The anniversary of the passing of Rick Harrison (Nov 14, 2009)
Hard to believe that it's been a year already.  A year ago from this day, four musicians/friends were getting ready for an afternoon rehearsal at my house.  Before we even started, Rick passed out over his keyboard and never woke up.  It all happened so fast.  Less than 10 minutes.  The two of us did some music sessions together, as well as a couple of gigs.  I miss him dearly.

The 'not so Lucky Shot' band
(Oct/09)
The Lucky Shot project is over - for me.  Disagreements in the direction and leadership of the band, a difference in personalities, and a general lack of problem solving abilities is only part of the reason that I will no longer be involved with them.  The band was solid musically, struggled some with vocals, but managed to put out a decent sound.  Oh well.  When people can't even sit down and discuss their differences, they have no business being in business together.  My biggest regret is because of the way everything was handled, there are some friendships that developed that have ended too.
I will wish them well, but I'm grateful to be out of a situation that was less than healthy.  And hey, I don't even like country music.

In memory of Rick Harrison (Nov 14, 2008)
Friday, Nov 14 will mark the passing of a very dear friend and fellow musician, Rick Harrison.  Rick died doing what he loved, playing music.  On that Friday afternoon, four of us (Fred Grupe, Nina Cohen, myself & Rick) had just sat down to rehearse for the following Sat night gig.   I'm fortunate to have had the privilege of knowing him and sharing his love for music.  He will be missed by all.

Then there's Nina Cohen (Sept/08)
Nina is an old friend from the 80's who's still a good singer that we've been trying to get more interested in public performances.  Fred Grupe and I have been pestering her to sing more.  She must have gotten inspired the week that Jerry & Gino were in town.  She's since picked out some new songs to learn.  She will be joining us on a limited basis, but soon we hope to book some gigs featuring "Nina Cohen".

Who is "Skeeter, Paul & Larry" (Sept/08)

The has been an ongoing pet project with Rick Harrison (electric piano, vocals) & Fred Grupe (bass).  We've done several gigs as a trio and venues wanted to use something besides our names.  So what started as joke of "Peter, Paul & Larry", evolved to "Peter, Saul & Larry", then to "Skeeter, Paul & Larry".  We're doing mostly my songs, with Rick singing a few as well.

The Swannanoa Gathering (Aug/08)
Most of my friends have heard me talk about this event, and will know how important this is to me.  One solid week of music, singing, more music!  Guitar Week & Folk Week takes place outside of Asheville, NC, at Warren Wilson College.  This place is close to Heaven.
I so wish that anyone with a passion for music could attend one of these.

Lauren Hull Project (May/08)
Since the beginning of May, I had been working with Fred Grupe helping out a young female vocalist by the name of Lauren Hull.  We had put together about an hours worth of material, featuring Lauren.  And she not only sings, but plays a decent rhythm guitar as well.  She's been a joy to work with.  We're exited about this, and after hearing her, I think you will be, too.
I'm playing acoustic guitar and singing a little.  Fred  Grupe plays bass and is managing the project.  Greg Coleman plays the ZEN drums and refuses to sit down with the rest of us.
We're promoting this as Lauren Hull.  Click on the link for more info.
Unfortunately, this project has had little activity since July.

"Up All Nite" condensed (Jan/08)
The rock band "Up All Night" that I had been rehearsing with since Sept 07 called it quits completely.  It was inevitable.  Not a good personality combination to begin with.  The group consisted of Wendy Poltorek, Bob Woodruff, Chris Rembold and myself.  The song list was made up of relatively current material from the last 5 years.

Guitar Lessons
Over the years, people have asked me about guitar lessons.  After much thought, I've decided to engage in some limited guitar instruction to select individuals.   'Limited' meaning that I can only handle one or two students; 'select' meaning that I want to work with someone having a little experience already, or adults with a firm commitment.  Ideally, I'm looking for someone who can play and/or sing a little (or a lot) and wants to take their skills to learn something new.  I'm looking for situations that would be mutually satisfying and beneficial.  Please email me if you'd like to talk about it.

Business Opportunities

Want to work from home and make some extra money?  I'm looking for someone interested in acting as a booking agent.  It's pretty simple, get me a gig and you'll be generously compensated.  Email me for details.

Mailing List
I have been sending out periodical announcements prior to some of my gigs.  Many people have appreciated the notice/reminder.  Let me know if you want (or don't want) to be included.

Summer Parties
Many of you have been asking if I would consider doing a private party.  What do you think?  Of course I would.  And I'm more than reasonable, too.  Price will not be an issue.  I've done a few already, and they've turned out to be very unique parties.  Not many people have live music at their house.  (FYI: a DJ is NOT live music)  The summer is pretty much wide open right now, so check the schedule below and send me an email.

Welcome to the new KadmanWeb

Apparently, my domain name had expired due to the credit card expiration date changing.  And believe it or not, there are people (bottom-feeders) out there that make a living at scooping up common, or in this case, expiring domain names.  WHY?  They use those links to direct people to their own 'shopping' district.  If you click one of their links, you go into their network of money making sites for all different kinds of products.  If you're looking to buy, they've got a site for you.  Pretty clever, huh?  Yes, those are the people that follow behind eating the scraps that other people drop accidentally, or intentionally.  What a way to get a meal.
I'm flattered that someone thought enough of the domain name, or the site itself, to pay the annual fee to hold it.  Please bookmark the new site.
